Path of Marcos y Cordero

  • DISTANCE: 12.5 km.
  • DIFFICULTY: Medium. The length of the path is an element to take into account. El tramo del canal entre La Casa Del Monte y los nacientes de Marcos tiene a veces tramos expuestos que requieren atención, aunque hay barandas en los lugares más peligrosos. The passage of the tunnels requires a torch, without light it is quite difficult to cross some of them, although it is possible. There’s a stretch of path that runs along the bottom of the ravine and requires some simple descending that requires a minimum of agility.

    • Leave information to someone of the route that is going to be done, as well as the time of return.
    • Carry a small individual backpack with some warm clothes, a raincoat, food and plenty of water.
    • Do not forget elements as simple as: hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
    • Carry a mobile phone with a charged battery, a map and, if possible, a compass. They are never used, but when they are needed they have to be there.
    • Equip yourself with specific material, especially on your feet: Hiking boots or similar (avoid trainers) are fundamental.
  • OBSERVATIONS: This route lends itself to different routes. The most common of all usually approaching the Casa del Monte (14 km track) hiring the services of a 4 × 4 taxi and descend to the Visitor Center. Another very popular excursion departs from the Visitor Center and reaches the springs, then returns along the same path or exits through the Casa del Monte. Finally, there are those who complete the path in its entirety, either leaving through Los Sauces, right from the Visitor Center. Checking the trail and schedules will allow each hiker to estimate the option that best suits them. Bring a Torch (essential) and a waterproof jacket to cross the tunnels.
